First of all, I'd like to thank everyone that's either visited my profile page, left me a comment, or wrote something in my guestbook. SingSnap has really changed my life, and I've met some awesome people here, who not only get my love for music, but who are just as crazy about it themselves! :)))
I'd also like to explain what my name means, because people keep thinking I'm from Hawaii, which I'm not, lol... ;) Sweet Aloha is the title of a song by my favorite band Venice... so I called myself sweetaloha to honor them and that wonderful song :)
Anyway, I'm Astrid, a 24-year-old music lovin' rock chick from the Netherlands. I've been singing for as long as I can remember, and according to my mom, I could sing before I could talk!! I joined my first choir when I was seven years old, and I've been singing in choirs and by myself ever since. Right now I'm in a choir that does musicals, and last September, we finally put our musical, Dick Turpin, on stage!! We got rave reviews, and a whole bunch of standing ovations... and almost all of the shows were sold out!! :) Right now we're working on a bunch of 'Night of the Prom's' -like concerts, which will take place in September next year. We're doing pop material for those concerts, and so far we've rehearsed songs like Grace Kelly by Mika, Kiss From A Rose by Seal, Mother Earth by Within Temptation, and Brand New Day from The Wiz, with me doing part of the solo! :)

Anyway, as I said, I'm a rock chick, and I also love musicals. Some of my favorite bands/artists are: Venice (a close harmony rock band from the States (but they're waaaay more popular over here in Holland); they sound a lot like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, the Eagles, the Beach Boys, that kind of stuff), Queen, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Eagles, Beach Boys, Little River Band, Hanson, Green Day, Bon Jovi, The Cranberries, The Corrs, Alanis Morissette, Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion, Sheryl Crow, Shania Twain, Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Jessica Andrews, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts... I could go on and on!! ;)

And a couple of my favorite musicals:
Rent, Wicked, Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Evita, Hair, The Lion King, The Sound of Music, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hairspray... The list goes on and on! ;)
I've even been lucky enough to see some of these musicals myself. I saw The Lion King in Scheveningen, and I saw the Phantom in Las Vegas last month... That was awesome!! :) I've also ordered tickets to go and see Wicked in London in August... I can't WAIT!! :)))

Of course I also have other interests aside from singing/music: watching tv (my favorite shows right now are Heroes, Lost, ER, Grey's Anatomy and Gilmore Girls), collecting DVD boxes of tv shows that I love (so far I have The X-files, Charmed, Gilmore Girls, ER, Grey's Anatomy, Lost, Full House, Medium and Profiler), playing computer games (especially World of Warcraft), reading (I love all kinds of books, but I especially like fantasy (right now I'm reading book 8 of the Wheel of Time series by the late Robert Jordan), and I'm also a total Harry Potter geek ;-) ), cooking... and lots more!!

I study French, and one day (when I grow up ;-) ) I want to be a translator.
